50 hikes with kids: New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey

"The true goal of this volume is to help parents create kids who will genuinely appreciate the natural beauty around them; the added layer of content and imagery will contain a few simple, easy, fun, but informative takeaways or activities, presented as scavenger hunts on each trip. These give parents a true chance to really interact on the trail and to discuss the natural wonders around them. The text reads in an adventurous, inquisitive tone tuned to be read by parents and children together.

The basic data at the beginning of each hike tells parents what they really want to know: how far it is, how long it will take to do with kids, elevation gain, and highlights they can look forward to reaching together. All hikes are personally curated by the author and are 4 miles or shorter and have an elevation gain of 900 feet or less to ensure little feet don't get too tired. It's also geared toward the modern parent: rather than devoting a lot of space to directions, we provide basic directions plus a URL the parents can put in their phone and use to navigate right to the trailhead.
