Heiner Meyer déjà-vu, Heiner Meyer

Heiner Meyer succeeds in arresting and capturing the passing by of the world of advertising, consumption, everyday life, and the cinema; the world of the great and small desires; the world of greed, power, and indulgence. In a rich selection, the artist brings together both the knowledge and the truth of the past, the fruits from the historical evolvement of art in Europe since antiquity, and combines this ''memento'', this zest, with the fashionable and the impermanent, with the icons of the 1950s and the brilliance and glamour of our time, with consumption and greed. These naturally include Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, Liz Taylor, and the unrivaled Audrey Hepburn.

The arc ranges from Jacqueline Kennedy, Penelope Cruz, and Paris Hilton to Victoria Beckham and any number of anonymous young women. Heiner Meyer captures what remains from all we had: a glaring world, quiet insight, and a dream. (after Friedhelm Häring). Published alongside various Heiner Meyer exhibitons in 2009. English and German text.
