Despre carte

"The West End of London has long had a reputation for fashion, shopping, glamour, entertainment, and, in the case of areas such as Mayfair, expensive houses of the wealthy. However this image often belies another side that has had its fair share of murder, corruption, vice, intrigue in high places as well as the most extreme poverty and degradation. Crime in the West End spanned from the slums of St.

Giles to the mansions of Mayfair. This book examines notable murders and misdemeanours between 1800 and 1850 in the West End. Drawing on a wide range of sources, including newspaper reports, accounts from court proceedings and government records it makes a valuable contribution to the history of crime in London.
